It translates into being the "the flower of the lily or lotus flower, although having many meanings. Having such a strong french influence, New Orleanians have continued more so to embrace the cultural emblem as a memorial to hurricane Katrina giving them hope, encouragement, and strength for a new beginning and brighter future.
